2. Koc University
Koc University is a foundation university that started its education in Istanbul in 1993. It continues its activities with 400 faculty members and approximately 6900 students. The University provides education in the Faculties of Humanities and Letters, Economics and Administrative Sciences, Science, Engineering, Law, Medicine and Nursing with 22 undergraduate, 32 graduate and 26 doctoral programs. The aim of Koc University’s research programs is to make qualified and original contributions to universal science and to have a beneficial impact on Turkey’s intellectual, technological, economic and social development. While decisively conducting their own research, faculty members attach importance to interdisciplinary cooperation and work as a team in strategic areas.
3. Middle East Technical University
more than 27,000 students were enrolled in the 2016-2017 academic year. About thirty-five percent of these students enrolled in graduate programs.
Each year, more than 1,700 students with a certain university degree from 94 different countries attend METU.
Undergraduate and graduate students from many countries study at METU for a semester or a year as special students or exchange students. METU is currently conducting student exchange program activities with many foreign universities.
In line with METU’s international outlook, more than five percent of faculty members are visiting scientists from various countries. About the same proportion of Turkish professors visit foreign universities or research centers every year as guests or researchers. Almost all of METU’s full-time faculty members have studied abroad or earned their doctorate from a foreign university.
METU is a highly respected international research university in the region. With more than 1,700 foreign students, it is the most important Turkish university in terms of international relations with extensive collaborations both in-depth and on the ground in the fields of education and research. All undergraduate programs in the Faculty of Engineering have been assessed and accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), the accrediting body of the United States of America, at the application for METU (http://www.abet.org).
4. Sabanci University
The University is the first university in Turkey to offer the freedom to choose a program. This system, which enables students to have knowledge of disciplines other than their chosen areas of specialization and to grow as fully equipped individuals, forms the foundation of the university. Students who wish to study at the university, when making their choice based on the results of the university entrance examination, do not choose the “department” but choose among the faculties and groups of professors.
5. Istanbul Technical University
Istanbul Technical University offers education in various master’s and doctoral programs on 5 campuses, 14 faculties and 67 undergraduate programs and 7 institutes located in the central regions of Istanbul. Apart from this, there are more than 400 R&D laboratories and 15 research centers at Istanbul Technical University. Dec. More than 2700 R&D projects are being carried out at ARI Teknokent, which is part of ITU. Dec.Dec. 25 of the engineering programs have been accredited by ABET and it is the university with the most ABET Accreditation in the world in this regard. Students who study at ITU with an International Joint Undergraduate Program are eligible to receive a double degree by completing the rest of their education at contracted universities in the USA. In addition, Istanbul Technical University has double major and minor opportunities in many departments. It cooperates with more than one hundred and forty institutions around the world.
